This exciting new exhibit celebrates the photography of Eric Meola, whose iconic photo of Springsteen and saxophonist Clarence Clemons graces the Born to Run album cover.  The free exhibit will be open to the public in Monmouth University’s Rechnitz Hall DiMattio Gallery from Friday, September 5 through December 18, 2025. A special viewing of rare footage from the making of Born to Run and from Springsteen’s 1975 Born to Run tour, hosted by filmmaker Thom Zimny with special guest, Max Weinberg.  This viewing will be the evening of Friday, September 5, at Monmouth University’s Pollak Theatre. Tickets are $50.

This multimedia presentation explores how both existing songs and new music resonated deeply with the public in this somber period.

Released in 1975 as the opening track on Born to Run, “Thunder Road” has become one of Bruce Springsteen’s most beloved songs—a sweeping story of youth, escape, uncertainty, and the promise of something better. Through the characters of Mary and an unnamed narrator, Springsteen transforms a front porch, a car, and an open road into symbols of possibility, while leaving us to wonder whether the future his characters imagine is truly within their reach.

This 45-minute illustrated presentation by Director of Curatorial Affairs Melissa Kozlowski explores Springsteen’s remarkable journey from Jersey Shore clubs to international acclaim, with a focus on his longstanding relationship with Monmouth—from his performances on campus in the late 1960s and early 1970s to the establishment of the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music, home to his official archives.

The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music at Monmouth University will host a daylong symposium and concert on October 10 celebrating the life, music, and enduring influence of Chuck Berry, one of the most important and transformative figures in American music history. Tickets are $150, limited to two per purchaser, and will be available at 12 p.m. ET on Wednesday, September 9.
