The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music is pleased to offer a variety of in-school programs designed to bring the power of music, history, and culture directly into the classroom. Led by Museum Educator Aidan Vogel, these interactive workshops, assemblies, and educational presentations explore topics ranging from American music history and social change to songwriting, cultural identity, and the connections between music and the curriculum. In honor of the opening of our new home, there are no fees for the 2026-2027 school year.
These programs can be adapted for elementary, middle and high school audiences and are designed to support classroom learning while encouraging critical thinking, creativity, and engagement. Whether serving a single class, a grade level, or an entire school community, each program is tailored to meet the specific needs, interests, and educational goals of the host institution.

This presentation brings our temporary exhibit, “Chimes of Freedom: Protest, Patriotism, and the Power of Song,” into the halls of your school. Explore the rich history of American protest songs, from “Yankee Doodle” to “The Streets of Minneapolis.” The presentation includes images and footage from the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music’s collection, as well as interactive performances from the well of American protest music. Students will have the opportunity to learn how to find and use their voices to be the change they want to see in the world.
It Takes a Village: 21st-Century Careers in Music
From performers and technicians to accountants and copywriters, it takes a village to create the music we all know and love. This presentation explores the robust world of career opportunities in music. Illustrated through a display of American music representing diverse styles, cultures, and historical periods, we will discuss the facets of stage and performing arts production management; the lifestyle implicationsand physical demands of working in the music industry; and the legal and ethical responsibilities that accompany being a music professional.
Inner Music Under the Surface: Using Music as a Tool for Social and Emotional Learning
Music is a powerful tool with which young people can learn and cultivate the skills of self-management, self-awareness, social awareness, and responsible decision-making. In this presentation, students will learn that the magic of music is right at their fingertips — not only for enjoyment but also as a tool to better understand themselves and the world around them. The presentation features interactive performances of American music from diverse styles, cultures, and historical periods,as well as images and videos from the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music collection.
History in Your Hands: A Sensory-Friendly Music History and Technology Experience
This experience brings the joy of music to you while keeping the presentation calmand sensory-friendly for all students to enjoy. With no flashing lights or loud noises, itfocuses on the history of American music and the technology that brings it to us. Students will see music history up close as we bring designated learning materials from our archives into your classrooms and hands, discovering how music travels from the recording studio into our hearts and heads.
