Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music to Open June 7 at Monmouth University

LONG BRANCH, N.J. (March 10, 2026) – The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music will open to the public on June 7, 2026. The region’s newest cultural venue, located on the campus of Monmouth University, has evolved from the home of the Bruce Springsteen archives into a national hub for programs, exhibits, concerts, scholarship, and education initiatives on all aspects of American music.

Formerly known as the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music, the institution was renamed in January 2026 to reflect its expanded mission: preserving the legacy of Bruce Springsteen, and celebrating the history of American music and its diversity of artists and genres. The new 32,000-square-foot building was designed by COOKFOX Architects of New York. The approximately $50 million project includes exhibition galleries, research archives, immersive interactive experiences, and a performance theater.

“The Springsteen Center provides a home for Bruce Springsteen’s archives and places him in the greater story of American music,” said Robert Santelli, founding executive director. “Popular music is one of America’s most enduring and respected cultural resources and Bruce Springsteen is one of its most important artists.”

Exhibits in the new facility chronicle Springsteen’s career and explore his creative process. Genre and thematic displays of American music, along with more than a dozen interactive experiences, showcase the history and artistry of America’s rich musical legacy. A brand-new documentary created by award-winning director Thom Zimny unveils Springsteen’s role in American music.

The center’s mission also includes dynamic public programs, including concerts, lectures, films, workshops, conferences, and symposia, and new exhibits that further explore Springsteen’s legacy and the American music tradition.

“We are honored to host the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music on our beautiful campus here at the Jersey Shore,” said Monmouth University President Patrick F. Leahy. “This center reminds us that music has always been one of the most powerful teachers in American life. We are proud to open this new destination to scholars, students, fans, and neighbors as a place where American music in all of its forms can be preserved, studied, and celebrated.”

“The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music will be a busy place,” added Santelli. “Not only will it enhance American music scholarship and add a new research dimension to Monmouth University, it will also be where Springsteen fans will be able to better understand his vast body of music and become more sophisticated listeners of it.”
