Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music to be Featured in PBS News Special During America’s Semiquincentennial

“Bruce Springsteen: Finding America in Song” Airs Nationwide July 5, Streams July 3

LONG BRANCH, N.J. (June 30, 2026)—The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music at Monmouth University will be featured in a PBS News special examining the role music plays in telling the American story and preserving the nation’s cultural history as the United States marks the 250th anniversary of its founding.

“Bruce Springsteen: Finding America in Song” is set to air on PBS stations nationwide at 6:30 p.m. local time on Sunday, July 5, and stream on PBS News’ digital platforms at 9 p.m. EDT on Friday, July 3.

Hosted by PBS News Hour co-anchor and co-managing editor Geoff Bennett, the 30-minute special explores Bruce Springsteen’s extraordinary career, his lasting impact on American music, and the opening of the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music at Monmouth University.

The special features an extended version of Bennett’s recent conversation with Bruce Springsteen, offering a deeper look at the themes, influences, and experiences that have shaped the artist’s work over more than five decades. Bennett also speaks with Bob Santelli, founding executive director of the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music and former executive director of the GRAMMY Museum, and Jon Landau, Springsteen’s longtime manager and producer.

“For generations, the Jersey Shore has served as both inspiration and stage for artists whose music has reflected the hopes, struggles, and dreams of America,” said Santelli. “There is no better place to celebrate our nation’s 250th birthday than here at the Center, where those stories continue to resonate.”

The Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music at Monmouth University opened to the public on June 13. Exhibits in the new facility chronicle Springsteen’s career and explore his creative process. Genre and thematic displays of American music, along with more than a dozen interactive experiences, showcase the history and artistry of America’s rich musical legacy.
