Get together with other music enthusiasts on Tuesday nights to discuss some of the greatest records of all-time! Listen to the album beforehand and then come prepared to discuss. This event will feature The Band\, Music from Big Pink. \nThis event is offered BOTH in person and via Zoom. DESCRIPTION:Please note that registration for this event is now closed. \n  \nThis Memorial Day\, join the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music for a special pop-up program honoring the true meaning of the holiday through the stories of two young New Jersey musicians whose lives were forever shaped by the Vietnam War: Bart Haynes and Walter Cichon. \nFrom 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Memorial Day (Monday 5/25)\, our Director of Curatorial Affairs\, Melissa Kozlowski\, will present an illustrated talk exploring the lives\, military service\, and lasting legacy of Haynes and Cichon — friends and contemporaries of Bruce Springsteen whose deaths profoundly impacted his life and work. The program will also examine the Vietnam War’s influence on Springsteen’s music and activism\, themes explored in Kozlowski’s forthcoming book\, Born in the U.S.A.: Bruce Springsteen\, Bart Haynes\, Walter Cichon — and the Vietnam War. \nAttendance is free but limited to 25 guests. \nPlease note: exhibit installation is still underway\, and our galleries will not be accessible\, but guests will have the opportunity to explore the grounds\, our boardwalk\, and our soaring lobby. DESCRIPTION:An unforgettable night of American songs and genres interpreted by some of the Jersey Shore’s most popular artists\, including Williams Honor\, Vini Lopez\, Pat Roddy\, Jackson Pines\, Pat Guadagno\, Richie Blackwell\, Jake Thistle\, and more… \nAn all-star line-up of Jersey Shore favorites will take the Pollak Theatre stage at Monmouth University on Friday\, May 29 at 7:30 PM for a special event that pays tribute to America’s rich music treasury and celebrates the nation’s 250th birthday.  The concert is the first in a series of music events leading up to the June 13 grand opening of the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music\, located on the university’s West Long Branch campus. \nAmerica 250: A Jersey Shore Celebration of the Nation’s Music Heritage brings together artists and bands that have been inspired by various genres of American music and who have created a local sound rooted in tradition. \n“This celebration of American music\, with a particular New Jersey twist\, demonstrates the richness of the local scene at the same time it acknowledges its link to a broader national music heritage” said Bob Santelli\, Executive Director of the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music. “The Jersey Shore music scene\, in many ways\, is a microcosm of the American music scene.” \n“The artists performing in this show are directly connected to the songwriting tradition and artistry that have shaped New Jersey music for decades\,” added Eileen Chapman\, Director of the Springsteen Center for American Music.  “What you’ll hear performed are not just songs; they are the soundtrack of our lives and a part of the American story.”
