SUMMARY:Echoes Across the Border: Laurel Canyon Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Sunday\, October 5 for a matinee screening of Laurel Canyon. The 2020 documentary gives an up-close look at the lives of the musicians who inhabited Laurel Canyon\, painting an intimate portrait of the artists who created a music revolution that would change popular culture. \nThis film screening is part of the Echoes Across the Border: Laurel Canyon and the Northern Connection music summit presented by the National Music Centre in collaboration with the Bruce Springsteen Archives & Center for American Music. The summit brings together industry leaders to discuss how cross-border Canadian-U.S. influences have shaped generations of artists\, with a special focus on the ’60s and ’70s Laurel Canyon era\, where songwriting visionaries like Joni Mitchell and Neil Young made their mark at home and beyond. \n\n\n\n\n\nLaurel Canyon (2020)\nLaurel Canyon is a two-part documentary series\, directed by Alison Ellwood\, that features an intimate portrait of the artists who created a music revolution through a wealth of rare and newly unearthed footage and audio recordings. \nFeaturing all-new\, original interviews with Jackson Browne\, Don Henley\, Michelle Phillips\, Graham Nash\, Linda Ronstadt\, Bonnie Raitt\, Roger McGuinn and more\, the uniquely immersive and experiential docuseries takes us back in time to a place where a rustic canyon in the heart of Los Angeles became a musical petri dish. \n1:00 pm – Episode 1 (80 minutes)\n2:30 pm – Intermission\n3:00 pm – Episode 2 (80 minutes)\n4:30 pm – Screening ends

SUMMARY:The Making of Sun City Screening + Conversation with Stevie Van Zandt & Bob Santelli (Sold Out)
DESCRIPTION:“Sun City was always about more than making a record. It was about using music to educate people\, bring attention to injustice\, and inspire people to do something about it\,” said Stevie Van Zandt. “That same idea is at the heart of TeachRock. We use music to help young people understand history and give them the context to better understand the world around them. I’m looking forward to sharing the story behind Sun City to kick off the Center’s new film series and talking about why those lessons still matter today.” \nTickets for The Making of Sun City are $50 and will go on sale on Thursday\, August 13 at noon online at  https://springsteencenter.org/.
